BiodivERsA/Biodiversa+
Background:
Biodiversa+ is a network of agencies and ministries programming and funding pan-European research on biodiversity and ecosystem services on a competitive basis.
BiodivERsA was established in 2005, the DFG joined BiodivERsA in November 2010. BiodivERsA has continuously been funded under the EU Framework Progammes FP6, FP 7 Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.
Since its start, two ERA-Nets (BiodivERsA and BiodivERsA2) and one ERA-Net Cofund (BiodivERsA3) have come to an end (but with the projects of the 2nd call of BiodivERsA3 still continuing). Currently, three ERA-Net Cofunds (BiodivScen, BiodivClim and BiodivRestore) and a European Co-funded Partnership (Biodiversa+), which started in autumn 2021 and focusses on Rescuing biodiversity to safeguard life on Earth, are running.
Since its beginning in 2005, the network has launched 12 calls for proposals. Until now, over 180 pan-European research projects have been funded.

Improved transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change for science and society
On 8 September 2022, Biodiversa+ launched a Call for proposals on improved transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change for science and society (BiodivMon).
This call covers the following three non-exclusive themes:
- Innovation and harmonisation of methods and tools for collection and management of biodiversity monitoring data
- Addressing knowledge gaps on biodiversity status, dynamics and trends to reserve biodiversity loss
- Making use of available monitoring data
The call covers all environments (i.e. terrestrial, inland freshwater including wetlands and marine). Projects combining aspects from several themes are encouraged.
Consortia that are invited for the 2nd step can submit their proposal until 5 April 2023, 15:00 CEST (local time in Brussels) via Biodiversa+´s EPSS system. The link to the EPSS system is available on the Biodiversa+ website.
