For Institutions and Research Consortia
Securing and expanding the structures developed through Clinician Scientist Programmes in the long term requires the acquisition of additional positions. One key funding opportunity is the Module Temporary Substitutes for Clinician(interner Link), which can be used to relieve physicians from clinical duties allowing them to focus on research
This module can be applied for under the following DFG funding programmes, either as part of the coordination project or one of the subprojects:
- Clinical Research Unit(interner Link)
- Research Unit(interner Link)
- Collaborative Research Centre(interner Link)
Temporary Substitutes for Clinicians can also be requested in Research Training Group(interner Link).
As part of a Clinician Scientist Programme, researching physicians will benefit from additional structural support, mentoring and networking opportunities.
IMPORTANT: It is highly recommended to assess the extent to which Clinician Scientists can be integrated into existing local Clinician Scientist Programmes. Such an environmental analysis is expected as part of the application for Temporary Substitutes for Clinicians and should be included in the proposal. The protected research time should be designed to enable independent and competitive research.
Note
The DFG accepts all Temporary Substitute Positions applied for within the framework of a Clinical Research Uni(interner Link) provided that they are integrated into an existing Clinician Scientist Programme and the concept is deemed convincing during the review process.
