Following the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Joint Call for Proposals: A*STAR Visits the DFG

Bonn, 15 May – In connection with efforts to intensify the research partnership between Germany and Singapore, a delegation led by Professor Dr. Andy Hor, Deputy Chief Executive (Research) of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), visited the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) in Bonn on 15 May 2025.

The A*STAR delegation met in Bonn with Dr. Ingrid Krüßmann, Deputy Head of International Affairs and Head of the Asia-Pacific Division, along with DFG representatives to discuss the existing partnership. The meeting also focused on new strategic perspectives for future collaboration. DFG President Becker visited Singapore with a delegation in 2023, establishing personal contact with key stakeholders. This visit gave rise to a stable and ongoing dialogue between A*STAR and the DFG. In March 2025, following a joint activity in December 2024(interner Link), this dialogue resulted in the signing of an MoU and the launch of a call in the field of sustainable chemistry(interner Link)

The meeting highlighted the strategic importance of collaboration with Singapore as a leading research hub in Southeast Asia and reaffirmed the shared aim of strengthening the partnership on a sustainable and long-term basis.
