(WiD)(externer Link) is the research community’s central organisation for science communication in Germany. A non-profit limited liability company, it is committed to an open society that shapes change through knowledge. To this end, it promotes productive dialogue between the research community and society. As a think-and-do tank for science communication, WiD develops practice-oriented knowledge, offers training geared towards specific target groups, connects different stakeholders and develops innovative communication formats. Through school projects, WiD enables young people to engage with researchers, thereby fostering an early interest in research and technology. Wissenschaft im Dialog was founded in 2000 by the major German research organisations.

As a co-founder of Wissenschaft im Dialog, the DFG collaborates with the other participating organisations to set the guidelines for the work done by the initiative.
