Committee on Scientific Instrumentation and Information Technology

The Committee on Scientific Instrumentation and Information Technology provides advice to the DFG’s bodies with respect to the statutory tasks, including all projects and measures dealing with development and funding of scientific instrumentation and information technology.

It is responsible for the evaluation of all proposals on project funding in the area of scientific instrumentation and information technology. This encompasses the following funding schemes:

  • Major Research Instrumentation
  • State Major Instrumentation
  • Major Instrumentation Initiatives
  • Core Facilities
  • New Instrumentation for Research

The committee currently has 20 members, representing the full thematic spectrum of scientific instrumentation and information technology and the various scientific disciplines. Its members are appointed by the Joint Committee for four years. The Committee is managed by the Scientific Instrumentation and Information Technology division (WGI).

The Committee on Scientific Instrumentation and Information Technology has been implemented since 2019 and continues the tasks previously conducted by the former Committee on Scientific Instrumentation and by the former Committee in IT Infrastructure.
