Annual Report 2019

Activities and Results – Programmes and Projects

Cover: Annual Report 2019

The DFG’s annual report provides a comprehensive, approximately 330-page overview of the organisation’s news and funding activities. It illustrates the variety of DFG-funded research and infrastructure by showcasing examples from the more than 31,150 projects which received more
than €3.3 billion in funding in 2019.

The 2019 report also provides information on focal areas of DFG funding activities and the organisation’s standpoints and actions regarding questions relating to the academic research system and research policy. In addition, it presents selected examples of DFG-funded research projects. In 2019, the report focuses on the digital turn in the sciences and humanities and the opportunities and risks associated with it.

A detailed statistics section presents the most important facts and figures.

The 2019 annual report clearly shows that a well-functioning self-governing research system is based on the involvement and dedication of many people, such as reviewers, committee members and Head Office staff.
