Activities and Results – Programmes and Projects

The DFG’s annual report provides a comprehensive, approximately 360-page overview of the organisation’s news and funding activities. It illustrates the variety of DFG-funded research and infrastructure by showcasing examples from the more than 30 940 projects which received over €3.9 billion in funding in 2024. The 2024 report also provides information on focal areas of DFG funding activities and the organisation’s standpoints and actions regarding questions relating to the academic research system and research policy. 

For 2024, the focus of journalistic contributions was on the topic of “environments”. A detailed statistics section presents the most important facts and figures with regard to DFG funding activities.

Selected charts from the annual report and additional detailed overviews of the most important key figures on the DFG’s funding activities and their development, broken down by various criteria, are available on our Key Figures Portal(interner Link). 

The 2024 annual report clearly shows that a well-functioning self-governing research system is based on the involvement and dedication of many people, such as reviewers, committee members and Head Office staff.
