The “German-Israeli Project Cooperation” (DIP) programme was founded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in 1997, as an excellence programme. For more details, see here:
The Committee for the German-Israeli Project Cooperation Programme is a subcommittee of the Joint Committee. From the proposals submitted annually by the eligible institutions in Israel, the committee chooses up to three projects for funding. These are then finally decided on in the December meeting of the Joint Committee.
The committee, which is chaired by a Vice President of the DFG, currently numbers a total of 10 researchers. They are appointed by the Joint Committee for a 3-year period (one re-election is possible). If particular subject knowledge is required, the committee invites subject-matter experts to its meetings. The committee meets once a year, usually in October. The committee is managed by the “International Affairs” division (IZ).
