UAS networking event with Canadian and US partners

Virtual matchmaking event of the DFG initiative UDIF-HAW

(07.11.22) On 18 October 2022, the virtual event Networking for Research – German Universities of Applied Sciences & Researchers in Canada/USA was held as a further item in the series of theme-based matchmaking events with universities of applied sciences (UAS). The DFG initiative “Networking for Research – Universities of Applied Sciences and Researchers Worldwide” (UDIF-HAW) seeks to reach out to UAS whose application-oriented research is highly regarded in an international context.

Around 100 researchers from German UAS and North American universities came together in five different thematic rooms on 18 October 2022 to exchange their research priorities and ideas. The aim was to explore potential collaborative projects. The thematic rooms were deliberately designed to be interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary. During the registration process, participants themselves assigned their contributions to one of the following rooms: “Transformation of the Energy Sector in the Wake of Climate Change”, “Health Care and Social Medicine throughout the Life Course”, “Secure Digitalisation of Industrial Engineering”, “Smart Cities” and “Innovative Materials – from Synthesis to Application”.

The aim is to consolidate the newly established contacts with a follow-up event and a planned delegation trip in spring/summer 2023 so as to explore in greater depth the potential of the collaborative project ideas that were generated.

The virtual matchmaking event within the framework of the UDIF-HAW initiative is one of several activities through which the DFG supports the initiation of research partnerships worldwide. UDIF-HAW is part of the DFG’s package of measures to support the further expansion of research at UAS.
