Bringing together researchers from India and Germany, the conclave fostered academic exchange through a postdoctoral symposium and a conference for senior researchers, the Law Professors Meet. Both components aimed to deepen mutual understanding, promote interdisciplinary dialogue and lay the groundwork for future collaborative research in international and comparative law.

The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Shrikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor of NALSAR University of Law, in the presence of distinguished guests including Prof. Dr. Marc-Philippe Weller, Vice-President for International Affairs and Diversity at Heidelberg University, Dr. Suboor Bakht, Director of the Foreign Office South Asia at Heidelberg University, and Dr. Franziska Langer, Director of the DFG Office India.

Over three days, 24 researchers – 14 from Germany and 10 from India – engaged in intensive discussions on emerging themes in international and comparative law. The structured dialogue between postdoctoral researchers, junior faculty and senior professors enabled valuable intergenerational and cross-cultural exchange, underscoring the continued importance of in-person interaction for building sustainable academic networks.

The Indo-German Week of the Young Researcher once again highlighted how direct engagement and trust-based partnerships form the foundation of successful research collaboration. By connecting early-career researchers and established researchers across borders, the initiative strengthens the long-standing academic ties between India and Germany and contributes to shaping a vibrant international research community.
