DFG Supported Academic Visit of Early Career Researcher to India

The DFG Office India continues its efforts to bridge the gap and promote academic cooperation between India and Germany through a range of activities and engagements. A key focus is fostering connections between researchers in early career phases (early career researchers) from both countries - encouraging academic exchange, building networks and inspiring future collaborations.

In line with this goal, the DFG, on request of the Hertie School in Berlin, supported the visit of Mr. Jan Panhuysen, a PhD student in his final year at Hertie School, to India. During his stay, Mr. Panhuysen participated in the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2025(externer Link) held in New Delhi from 25-27 April. He also attended the Indo-German panel discussion on “beyond borders: financing neglected tropical diseases for global health equity”. The panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Mujaheed Shaikh(externer Link), PhD supervisor of Mr. Panhuysen, and co-hosted by the Hertie School Berlin and the DWIH-New Delhi. In addition, Mr Panhuysen also visited the Jindal School of Public Health & Human Development, O.P. Jindal Global University(externer Link) and the Centre for Public Health, Tata Institute of Social Sciences(externer Link), Mumbai, to interact with fellow students/researchers, present his work and of course build academic partnerships.
