Positions in DFG-Funded Projects
The four research labs of the Cluster of Excellence “Reasonable Artificial Intelligence, RAI” are offering several positions for research assistants – doctoral candidates (f/m/d), starting on the 01.01.2026. The lead university is TU Darmstadt. Researchers from other universities (Bremen, Frankfurt am Main, Saarbrücken, Tübingen, Würzburg) are also involved.
The groundbreaking advances in artificial intelligence are currently based on the brute-force scaling of resources. We, on the other hand, are rethinking and redeveloping AI at its core. Reasonable Artificial Intelligence (RAI) is giving rise to richer, more robust AI systems that inherently possess the abilities to think, learn, interact, and adapt.

The University of Marburg offers several positions in the Cluster of Excellence “Microbes for Climate” starting on the 01.01.2026. The following qualification positions are to be filled:
- 3 doctoral positions in part-time (65%), limited to 3 + 1 years
- 5 postdoctoral positions in full-time, limited to 2 years
- 1 open level doctoral or postdoctoral position with wet-lab or computational focus.
The project deciphers the fundamental molecular mechanisms of microbial contributions to the carbon cycle and uses synthetic biology to develop more efficient ways to sustainably convert CO2. This knowledge will be generated in a scale-bridging approach (from the atomic structure of enzymes to the systems level of the cell) through highly interdisciplinary and integrative studies. Within M4C, Marburg University, the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg, the University of Münster and the University of Giessen join forces.
