“Joint Forum” of the DFG and National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF)

On October 30, a delegation of the NRF visited the DFG Head Office for the first “Joint Forum”.
In previous talks between DFG President Professor Dr. Katja Becker and NRF President Professor Dr. Kwang Bok Lee, it had been discussed that the research systems of both countries were facing similar challenges and both organisations, the DFG and the NRF, could benefit from in-depth exchanges about some key questions related to research management.
During the exchange in Bonn, various topics related to research assessment and good research practice were discussed. Both sides presented their respective approaches and further exchanged views on topics of interest during a fruitful discussion.
The event underlined the importance of the cooperation between DFG and NRF and the potential of bilateral exchanges on current and highly relevant topics. A follow-up event is planned to be held in South Korea in 2024.
