(05/30/12) From 3 to 7 May, Dr. Dietrich Halm, Director of the DFG Office Latin America in Sao Paulo, and Dr. Damian Dudek, Programme Officer for Engineering Sciences at the DFG's Head Office in Bonn, met with representatives of the DFG's partner organisation in Colombia – COLCIENCIAS – and a number of researchers to discuss the prospects for an expansion of cooperation in the field of electrical engineering and its benefits for German and Colombian researchers. The talks, which were attended by the President of partner organisation COLCIENCIAS, Prof. Dr. Jaime Restrepo Cuartas, and other representatives, covered a range of central topics for the field of electrical engineering, including wireless communication technology – an area in which both parties are keen to cooperate. The main areas of focus for this cooperation were defined at a round table discussion held on 7 May with around twenty researchers from six Colombian universities and research institutes.

Previous to this, the DFG's delegation held presentations on the available funding programmes at an event organised by the DAAD in Colombia under the title "Research in Germany". Staged on 5 May, the event also hosted the DFG's information stand.
