Brochure for 9th German-Russian Week of the Young Researcher, "Quantum Science: Light-Matter Interaction"

(27.08.20) Every year, the DFG office in Moscow places a strong focus on bilateral networking and supporting early career researchers with the event format German-Russian Week of the Young Researcher. At the end of September 2019, the ninth Week of the Young Researcher was held in Moscow at the Faculty of Physics at Moscow State University (MSU), with over 50 doctoral researchers, postdocs and professors from Germany and Russia. The event was based on the theme "Quantum Science: Light-Matter Interaction" and organised together with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under the aegis of the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH Moscow).

The brochure summarises the key results of this scientific gathering and provides an insight into the current state of research in selected areas of quantum physics. The renowned Moscow State University was playing host for the first time to the attendees travelling from many universities and research institutes in both countries.

The now well-established series of events was launched in 2011. The first Week of the Young Researcher took place against the backdrop of the German-Russian Year of Science, Education and Innovation, signalling a new chapter in bilateral cooperation at the time with its focus on early career researchers and current topics in research cooperation between the two countries. This was followed by annual events in a number of Russian cities focusing on current research questions.

This year the series is due to continue with the tenth Week of the Young Researcher in mid-November 2020, though in a format adapted to the ongoing pandemic, allowing researchers from both countries to discuss current questions in research.

The 2019 conference brochure can be downloaded from the DFG website.
