Research Infrastructure
The DFG offers centrally-coordinated funding to build and improve scientific infrastructure: Scientific Library Services and Information Systems, Scientific Instrumentation and Information Technology, Central Research Facilities.
Research needs efficient scientific libraries. In its funding programmes, the DFG concentrates on projects which serve to improve the conditions of the nationwide library network. International cooperation in this area has also been initiated.
Scientific instrumentation and equipment can be applied for in several of the DFG's funding programmes as well as through the Hochschulbau-Förderungsgesetz, a legal act which provides for major equipment and the construction of institutions of higher education in Germany. Additional information on these processes and the decision-making bodies involved as well as on particular equipment categories is provided.
