International Activities

As an open system, science is international: science and research thrive on the exchange of arguments and ideas as well as on stimuli and suggestions; they thrive on cooperation and also on competition – regardless of national borders. One of the DFG’s core tasks is to provide the best possible support for international cooperation wherever research itself requires it.

The DFG pursues this goal in two different ways at its Head Office in the International Cooperation Group and through its representations abroad:

  • Cooperation with partner organisations worldwide
  • In the area of research policy through institutional representation in scientific and research policy organisations and alliances

The following websites provide further information on the DFG’s region-specific and research policy activities.
