(28.01.14) In December 2013 the DFG signed a letter of intent with the Universidad de los Andes. The private university in Bogotá (Uniandes) is one of the three universities with the strongest research profiles and highest international visibility in Colombia. Rankings show that it is also one of the most renowned in Latin America.

It enjoys a particularly strong reputation in the engineering sciences, social sciences, natural sciences, administrative sciences, law and art. Uniandes has access to its own funding resources and contributes third-party funding of its own at a level equal to the third-party funding it receives from funding organisation COLCIENCIAS.

The agreement with Uniandes simply and efficiently supplements the DFG's existing agreement with partner organisation COLCIENCIAS. It will allow both preparatory projects and research grants to be co-financed at any time without calls for proposals (with fellowships for doctoral researchers and funding for direct project costs, equipment, travel and maintenance, and publications).
