(28.02.12) As part of the German-Russian Year of Science, DFG President Matthias Kleiner opened a series of lectures by Leibniz prizewinners in Russia. Sixty prominent academics and partners from universities, academy institutes and government ministries were invited to the formal opening event, which took place in the stately rotunda in the main building of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).

(12.03.12) On the occasion of DFG President Matthias Kleiner's visit to Moscow on 29 February 2012, the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFFI) agreed to expand their collaboration. Under the expanded funding agreement, the two organisations will increase their support of International Research Training Groups (IRTGs) and Collaborative Research Centres (CRCs).

(26.09.12) As part of Russia's Germany Year 2012/2013, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) organised the second Young Researcher Week in Russia under the auspices of the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH Moscow).

DWIH research forum with recipients of Russian mega-grants

(04.12.12) On the evening of 3 December, the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) hosted the 4th German-Russian Research Forum at the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH) in Moscow. The theme of the forum, with 30 prominent participants, was opportunities for German-Russian research cooperation through the funding of Russian mega-grants for internationally respected researchers to establish research laboratories in Russia.

(17.12.12) On 14 December 2012, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFFI) held its third Christmas reception for international partner organisations and the diplomatic corps. The chairman of the council of the RFFI, Vladislav Panchenko, addressed the invited guests at Central Research House , speaking about the organisation's activities and paying tribute to the commitment of the German Research Foundation (DFG) to the international collaboration.
