Information on the Open-Access Publishing Programme
The Open Access Publishing programme is currently being evaluated by the Committee on Scientific Library Services and Information Systems (AWBI). The programme will run until the end of 2020. Until then, the currently valid rules will apply, i.e. in 2019 and 2020, proposals can be submitted for up to two years’ funding.
Through the Open Access Publishing programme, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) assists research universities in setting up publication funds from which they can pay the publication fees associated with publishing articles in open access journals, as long as members of the university function as the submitting author or a corresponding author.
The aim is to promote sustainable and reliable structures for the funding of open access publications. Applicant universities must therefore contribute a defined proportion of the requested funding volume and explain in the proposal how the publication fund is to be maintained on an ongoing basis.
