Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Programme

To continue the intensification and improvement of German-Indian cooperation in science, research and technology, the currently valid agreement between the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and the DFG was updated in 2011 and now replaces the previous arrangements from 1990. The main aim is to expand scientific cooperation between the two countries through joint funding measures, such as workshops and mobility funding for the initiation of bilateral research collaboration.

As part of this agreement, each year INSA nominates approximately 25 - 30 Indian researchers to visit Germany for the purpose of initiating joint projects. The nominated researchers then make contact with their German hosts. If the host institution agrees, it can request funding for the visit by submitting a proposal to the DFG in Bonn. These proposals are subject to the DFG's usual review process. A funding decision is made on the basis of the reviews. The German host institution is notified of the decision.
