Dynamic portal on good research practice expanded to include English version / International compatibility

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) has expanded its Research Integrity portal to include an English version. The third level of the Code of Conduct “Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice” is now also accessible as an up-to-date source of reference to international, non-German-speaking target groups.

The English version contains all the comments on the guidelines and explanations previously available in German, as well as in-depth contributions. This includes commentaries relating to general matters and specific subject areas, case studies, frequently asked questions, references to laws and other standards, related DFG statements and references to external sources. The portal offers various search and access modes. It now comprises approximately 400 articles in German and English.

Since its launch in December 2020, the online portal has attracted considerable interest among the academic community. This is reflected in the visitor numbers: as of the end of June 2021, the pages had been viewed a total of 16,000 times – and the trend continues upwards.

By publishing an English language version, the DFG aims to raise the international visibility of the subject of research integrity – in particular the framework conditions and standards of good research practice as laid down in the Code. Together with international partner organisations and as a member of international alliances, Germany’s largest research funding organisation has long been committed to promoting honest, quality-assured research beyond national borders – whether as a member of the Global Research Council (GRC) and Science Europe (SE) or in the context of the European Network of Research Integrity Offices (ENRIO) and the World Conferences on Research Integrity (WCRI).
