"Research in Germany" at the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) Annual Meeting 2013

(23.12.13) "The big Easy" – that's how New Orleans is often called. From Dec 14 – Dec 18, not only life and jazz were pulsating in this city, but also cell biological research at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. More than 4,000 international scientists accepted the invitation to visit the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology. The ASCB meeting is considered to be the most important international meeting for researchers in the field of cell biology. This year, the "Research in Germany" initiative was present for the first time. Representatives of the DFG outlined German research with its possibilities for research, cooperation and funding in the course of several activities.

(20.12.13) During Christmas time, San Francisco is an especially shiny and lively metropolis. As lively as the city itself was this year's Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) that attracted more than 22,000 geoscientists, experts and exhibitors from all over the world to the city on the US-West coast from Dec 9 to Dec 13. The initiative "Research in Germany", organized by the DFG, was present again in successful collaboration with the Clusters of Excellence CliSAP (Hamburg), MARUM (Bremen) and The Future Ocean (Kiel) as well as the coordination office GEOTECHNOLOGIEN (Potsdam).

(03.12.13) The 46th annual AGU meeting, taking place from December 9 to 13 in San Francisco, will attract more than 20,000 participants. As in 2012, the “Research in Germany” initiative has teamed up with geoscientific Clusters of Excellence and outstanding research institutions to inform about the German research landscape. In addition to a collaborative booth, there will also be daily noon lectures, a career day and a Leibniz Lecture followed by a German Social as special events.

(28.11.13) The 43rd annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) brought together 30,000 international scientists at the Convention Center in San Diego, USA. The initiative “Research in Germany” was also present and welcomed about 600 visitors interested in Germany at the information booth within the four days of the meeting.

The brand „Research in Germany“ is gaining momentum

(30.08.13) At the GAIN (German Academic International Network) Annual Meeting from August 30 through September 1 in San .Francisco about 300 German early-career scientists met with about 150 representatives from German institutions, amongst them the top large German science organizations as well as a number of presidents of German universities.

(23.09.13) With the theme of "Chemistry in Motion", linking in to the region's racing tradition, scientists, experts and industry representatives came together between 8 - 12 September for the annual conference of the world's largest scientific society for chemists.

(08/23/13) Over 5,000 sociologists attended the Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association (ASA) from August 10-13 in New York. The 108th annual meeting of the association was titled “Interrogating Inequality, Linking Micro and Macro” and it addressed one of the most acute problems of society not just in North America.

(19.08.13) Over 7,000 attendees will participate in this year’s annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB), the largest international meeting in the field of cell biology. The DFG is participating in the conference from December 15-17 in New Orleans and is organizing a workshop for early career researchers on “Career Track Option in Germany – Steps towards a successful scientific career.”

„Research in Germany“ at this year’s ACS Fall Meeting

(09.08.13) “Research in Germany” will once again be participating in the 246th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS) with over 10,000 international scientists as well as exhibitors in the field of chemistry. This year’s meeting is taking place in the beginning of September in Indianapolis, IN. Renowned researchers and representatives of scientific organizations will be present at the booth in the exhibit hall as well as at the Science Lunch in order to discuss field specific research and funding opportunities in Germany.

Neuroscience 2013

(24.07.13) Since 1971, the Society for Neuroscience has held its annual meeting rotating between the east coast, the west coast and the central states in the US. This year’s annual meeting will take place in San Diego from November 10-13 and the number of scientists in attendance is expected to be over 30,000.

(14.06.13) For the first time on the conference of the European Association for Research in Learning and Instruction (EARLI), the “Research in Germany”-initiative presents cutting-edge research ‘Made in Germany’ in the social sciences.

„Research in Germany“ at the Experimental Biology 2013

(02.05.13) The bombings at the Boston Marathon and the following dramatic pursuit of the assassins overshadowed the first days of this year’s Experimental Biology in Boston, April 20-24. When the second assassin was captured on the evening of April 19, not only the inhabitants of Boston, but also the participants and organisers of the conference were relieved.
