DFG Attends the 60th Brazilian Congress on Genetics

(19.09.14) As part of the "Research in Germany" campaign, the DFG attended the 60th Brazilian Congress on Genetics in Guarujá in the state of São Paulo. Alongside representatives from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the DFG provided information about its collaboration and funding programmes.

The scientific conference was attended by approximately 1200 participants from all over Brazil, including some who had held fellowships at German universities and research centres.

At the invitation of the DFG, Prof. Dr. Detlev Arendt from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg attended as a guest speaker. His lecture on the "Evolution of the Central Nervous System" attracted a large audience. Professor Arendt also opened the information session on "Research in Germany: Fellowships and Funding Opportunities" with a talk on the EMBL and on Heidelberg as a research location in Germany. The DFG, the DAAD and the AvH then presented their funding programmes and provided information about the opportunities they offer for international collaboration.
