(05/30/12) The DFG was present at the conference of the Brazilian Society of Physics on 15-16 May 2012 with both a stand and an information event. The stand was open to conference visitors on both days of the conference. A central information event was staged on 16 May in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The two-hour event opened with presentations by Prof. Dr. Schöll (Würzburg), outlining current trends in research in Germany and the work of his institute in Würzburg, and DAAD alumnus Prof. Abner Siervo (UNICAMP), who spoke about his experiences at the University of Dortmund. In conclusion, Dr. Helmut Galle (DFG) and Marcio Weichert (DAAD) spoke on the existing opportunities for cooperative research and outlined the available scholarship programmes in Germany.
