Taiwan-German Collaboration in Research

DFG regular funding programmes for cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan (MoST)

The Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan (MoST) has launched a new call for proposals in all fields of science on 29 September 2017. The submission deadline in Taiwan will be 30 November 2017. In accordance with the full proposal target date of the MoST, proposals at the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) should be submitted not later than 30 November 2017.

This initiative aims to bring together relevant and competitive researchers from Germany and Taiwan to design and carry out collaborative research projects. Within these research teams, each national funding organisation will fund as a rule only those project components that are carried out within its own country. The collaborative projects selected will receive research funding for a period of up to three years.

Proposals must be submitted to both organisations in accordance with the proposal preparation requirements of both sides, respectively. Applicants to be funded by the DFG are requested to fulfil the eligibility requirements of DFG Research Grants, see the corresponding guidelines of the Research Grants Programme (DFG form 50.01). German applicants are requested to upload their proposal via elan, the DFG’s electronic proposal processing system, following the DFG’s guidelines. This includes the “Duty to Cooperate” within Germany for members of non-university institutions with permanent positions.

All proposals will be reviewed by both organisations separately. The results of the review process will be shared between the agencies. Support will be granted for those proposals where both DFG and MoST recommend funding. Please note that at DFG there are no separate funds available for these efforts, proposals must succeed on the strengths of their intellectual merit and teams.
