Tips and guidelines for simple and expanded searches on the DFG website

The following topics provide useful tips for further improving the quality of your search results.


Search results can be refined with the help of logical links:

AND link (default)
Each entered search term must be contained in the document being searched.
Example: funding AND equality
Valid operators: + AND

OR link
At least one of the entered search terms must be present in the document being searched.
Example: funding OR equality
Valid operators: OR

The search function does not generally distinguish between upper-case and lower-case letters.

This search term should not be present in the document being searched.
Example: funding NOT equality
Valid operators: - NOT

The search operators listed above can be freely combined with one another.
Example: funding AND equality NOT grant

? is a wildcard representing exactly one character
Example: mo?e finds more, mole or move

* is a wild card representing any number of characters
Example: mo*e finds more, mole or move as well as monocule or monocle
