Integrated Research Training Groups within the Collaborative Research Centre Programme

Collaborative Research Centres provide good employment opportunities for doctoral researchers. Based on the positive experiences and structures that have been established in the Research Training Groups programme, the DFG now offers integrated Research Training Groups in the CRC programme. The aim is to promote the doctoral researchers’ scientific independence and further qualifications. This makes Collaborative Research Centres even more attractive for young researchers.

Doctoral researchers working in a Collaborative Research Centre should be integrated into a structured doctoral training programme in order to promote their scientific independence and to provide options for further qualification. If no suitable programme (such as a Research Training Group, graduate school or other pertinent higher education programme) exists at the Collaborative Research Centre’s location, it is expected that an integrated Research Training Group will take on this task. The CRC may request extra funds specifically for this purpose. Integrated Research Training Groups make Collaborative Research Centres even more appealing to young researchers.
