Knowledge Transfer
In accordance with its statutes, the DFG has always been actively involved in promoting equal cooperation between university scientists and companies in all of its funding programmes, particularly the Individual Grants Programme, in Transfer Units and as part of its Priority Programmes. Since May 2006 it has also been possible for young scientists who have already obtained their doctorate and are participating in DFG-funded projects, and leaders of Emmy Noether working groups, to continue their research work in an industrial environment, not only in a university setting, or to set up their own company to promote knowledge transfer between science and business: a boon both for the scientists and for Germany as a centre of research.
The focus of projects involved in knowledge transfer, which must build upon existing DFG projects, is on promoting creative young researchers. Applicants are requested to provide a comprehensive report of their results.
