International Promotion of Early Career Reseachers
Researchers who are integrated in the German research system may use a fellowship for a longer research stay abroad.
The objective of the EURYI Award is to effectively enable and encourage outstanding young researchers to work in one of the participating European countries in the programme for a five-year period. The NIH-DFG Research Career Transition Awards Program, initiated jointly by the DFG and the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), enables young scientists to pursue research over a consecutive period of five to six years, beginning at one of the NIH institutes in the USA and continuing at a German research institution.
All of the DFG’s programmes are also open to young postdoctoral researchers from abroad, provided that they intend to continue their scientific work in Germany following their award. International Research Training Groups provide an opportunity for joint doctoral training between a group at a German university and a partner group abroad. The research and qualification programmes are developed together and joint supervision is provided. The doctoral researchers in each of the groups are expected to spend about six months abroad in the respective partner country.
