DFG Funding Ranking
A special contribution to funding and research monitoring is made by the DFG’s publication series on funding ranking. The ranking is primarily based on data on subject- and topic-specific third-party funds raised from the DFG, the German federal government, and the European Union. Numerous key figures and data visualisations also provide insight into regional priorities and cooperative relationships with other universities and non-university research institutions. Thus, they illuminate issues such as clusters, internationality, and collaboration between science and industry.
A key goal of the funding ranking is to provide differentiated information on the research priorities of Germany’s universities. DFG member institutions use the ranking as an important planning tool to develop their strategies and improve quality management. The English version of the publication series also increases the international visibility of German research.
