European Network on Research Careers (ENRC)
The European Network on Research Careers (ENRC) was established in 2003 on the initiative of the DFG. Its aims were to provide a platform for European research funding organisations to discuss strategies for promoting researchers in the early stages of their careers and to facilitate future joint activities.
The network now includes representatives from around 40 European scientific organisations, ministries and the European Commission. These representatives meet twice a year, in spring and autumn, in Brussels. Here, they discuss both issues of a general nature and topics relating specifically to the promotion of young researchers, such as the mobility of postdoctoral researchers and structured doctoral funding.
