Institute for Research Information and Quality Assurance (IFQ)

The Central Research Facility "Institute for Research Information and Quality Assurance (IFQ)" aims to improve the information available on the general conditions for performing DFG-funded research, the execution of such research and its results. This information is intended to enable quantified conclusions to be reached on trends as they develop, for example within the context for the DFG's coordinated programmes or of the situation regarding young researchers by subject.

The IFQ contributes to achieving this by creating a theoretical, methodological and technical instrument for this (in the form of databases). It is envisaged that this will be developed in stages, starting with a detailed study of the DFG's current funding activities. On the one hand this has the advantage of using instruments which already exist in model form right from the outset and during the early stages, and on the other serves as a proof of concept, which will enable target groups other than the DFG to benefit from the developments after the initial stages.

The IFQ began its work in the autumn of 2005.
