Workshop “Quality Criteria in Patient-Oriented Research as the Foundation for Knowledge Gain“

The participants discussed how to ensure the research quality of clinical trials.

At the invitation of the DFG, a workshop entitled “Quality Criteria in Patient-Oriented Research as the Foundation for Knowledge Gain” was held in Bonn on 3 - 4 March 2015. The event was jointly organised by the review boards (clinical trials peer review panel) and the DFG Senate Commission on Key Questions in Clinical Research. Around 70 participants from research organisations, research funding organisations and patient organisations took part and discussed how to ensure the research quality of clinical trials. The main focus was on the following areas:

  • Scientific requirements and evaluation criteria for high-quality research on and with humans
  • Structural and legal frameworks
  • Incentives and obstacles for careers in patient-oriented research
  • Prospects for clinical research from the perspective of research organisations
