Committee on Scientific Instrumentation
The Committee on Scientific Instrumentation advises the DFG's Grants Committee on General Research Support on the acquisition of major equipment and produces statements on questions relating to the technical specifications and operation of scientific equipment.
The committee currently has 13 members who are elected by the Grants Committee for General Research Support for a three-year term in office (one-time re-election is possible).
The committee responds to orders for major equipment and scientific instrumentation submitted by the federal states (Länder) for financing under the Hochschulbauförderungsgesetz (HBFG). It formulates the DFG's position on the proposals and presents its recommendations to the German Science Council (Wissenschaftsrat).
