8th Brazil-Germany Symposium of Sustainable Development

(18.09.17) The eighth edition of the Brazil-Germany Symposium of Sustainable Development will be held from October 2 to 7, in Porto Alegre. The event takes place every two years, alternately in Brazil and Germany, and aims at providing scientific exchange between Brazilian and German researchers in the field of technological innovation and sustainability.

The following topics will be discussed at the symposium: water and oceans; public health; food and agricultural security; bioeconomy; biodiversity; sustainable mining; renewable energy; development of green infrastructures in urban areas; climate change, socio-environmental responsibility; ethics and environmental law.

The director of the DFG Office Latin America, Dr Kathrin Winkler, will participate in the session “Binational Programs and Cooperation” on October 5th, presenting the DFG’s international strategy and activities in the region. On the same day, Carolina Santa Rosa, also from the DFG Office Latin America, will take part in the “Research in Germany” Lunch Session to inform about the scientific cooperation programs between Germany and Brazil as well as funding opportunities for bilateral research projects.

The event is organized by the Brazilian Center of the University of Tübingen in partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC-RS).
