(07.09.16) The 15th annual meeting of the Brazilian Materials Research Society (SBPMat) will take place at the Expo Dom Pedro conference centre between 25 and 29 September 2016 in the city of Campinas near São Paulo. With symposia in nanomaterials and synthesis, characterisation and modelling, energy and sustainability, electronics and photonics, and biomaterials and soft matter, the event will address current developments and perspectives in materials science and technology. The international guest speakers will include speakers from Germany, the USA, Portugal, China and the UK.

Representatives of the Research in Germany campaign will be present with an information stand in the conference’s exhibition area and will provide interested conference attendees with information on funding programmes and opportunities for exchange and cooperation. There will also be a Research in Germany Science Lunch on Monday 26 September between 12 noon and 2pm where early career researchers can find out more about Germany as a place of research and network in a relaxed atmosphere. Professor Charles James Kirkpatrick, emeritus professor of pathology at the University of Mainz, has been invited by Research in Germany to give an insight into the research landscape in Germany and present his own research work. Dr. Hubertus Marbach from the University of Erlangen and Professor Norbert Koch from the Humboldt University of Berlin will also participate in the event. Following an introduction of the researchers, in particular their specialist fields, and brief presentations of the funding organisations present – the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) – attendees will have the chance to mingle at the different tables, chat on a one-to-one basis over refreshments and seek in-depth advice.
