2011 Lindau Nobel Meeting in Economics
Pre-departure briefing of Indian participants by ICSSR and DFG in New Delhi
A briefing session for the participants in the 2011 Lindau nobel Laureates meeting in Economics was held on August 21, 2011 at the ICSSR (Indian Council for Social Science Research) in New Delhi. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of ICSSR, Prof. Dr. Sukhadeo Thorat.
Right after the meeting, a 7 member delegation under the ICSSR-DFG Lindau Programme left India on their way to Germany, to participate in the Nobel Laureates Meeting in Economic Sciences in Lindau, Germany from August 23 – 27, 2011. This is the 4th meeting in Economic Sciences in which 18 Nobel Laureates and 373 young economists from 65 countries will be participating. Dr. Ranjit Sinha, Member Secretary, ICSSR and Dr. Torsten Fischer, Director, DFG India Office shared information with the participants about their respective organisations as well as about the Lindau Meeting. Some very interesting insights were shared by Dr. Subir Sen, a former participant of the meeting.
Dr Fischer also elaborated on the funding opportunities available with DFG. “I congratulate you on having been selected for this prestigious conference. We are convinced that it will only be your first step for carrying out research in collaboration with outstanding researchers from Germany and elsewhere in the world”, Dr. Fischer said.
