Awareness raising and information campaign in India
Acting together to promote research and innovation cooperation with India, the European Union, in coordination with its member states, embarked on an “Awareness Raising and Information Campaign in India” from 13th to 24th June 2011. In these twelve days, the EU, with the help of Science Counsellors of its member countries and funding organizations in India, has organized information sessions in 27 cities across the country.
The Mumbai Session was coordinated by Dr. Torsten Fischer, Director, German Research Foundation, India Office, New Delhi, on Tuesday, 14th June 2011, and presented the welcome address, details of the German cooperation with India as well as The European Union's 7th Research Framework Programme. He also explained the complementary structure of the European funding landscape, especially the special features of funding on national, multilateral and supranational level.
Representatives of four European member countries, along with the representatives of the European Research Council (ERC) and the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) informed some 160 students, young researchers, academics, scientists and representatives of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) about the ongoing opportunities and funding avenues for enhancement of academic and scientific collaborations between India and the participating member's countries of the EU.
