DFG Head Office
Org Chart for the DFG Head Office
In order to run its day-to-day operations, the DFG maintains a Head Office, which is led by the organisation’s Secretary General. The DFG’s Head Office, which is headquartered in Bonn, is divided into three departments and an Executive Board.
The DFG’s presence abroad is part of the organisation’s international strategy. To this end, the DFG has joined forces with its sister organisation in China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), to establish a joint centre for research promotion in Beijing. This follows the establishment of DFG offices in Washington, New York, Moscow, Delhi (with a branch in Hyderabad) and Tokyo.
The Berlin office also supports the maintenance of the DFG’s international relationships, a role it has played since 1991.
Science and research need public and political support. Through developing an appropriate framework of financial, legal and structural conditions, government policy is designed to promote and safeguard the international competitiveness and innovative character of Germany's research landscape.
One of the DFG's core strategies, which is to promote collaboration between researchers at home and abroad, has gained increasing importance in the recent past. Establishing offices abroad is a part of this international strategy.
