Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Programme
In order to enhance the Indo-German scientific cooperationin all fields of science, research and technology the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) updated in 2011 their currently valid agreement, which superseded the earlier regulations from 1990. The new understanding focuses on joint funding activities to increase bilateral scientific cooperation of both countries, e.g.via workshops or mobility funding to initiate future joint projects.
Under this joint scheme, INSA nominates approx. 25 – 30 Indian researchers every year to visit Germany in order to initiate collaborative projects. Based on INSA nominations, the Indian researchers contact their German counterparts, who subsequently may submit the proposal to finance local hospitality in Germany to DFG Head Office in Bonn. Such proposals are peer reviewed by the respective expert committees of DFG. The decision about funding the proposal is taken on the basis of the referees recommendations and communicated by DFG to the German host.
