The German Research Foundation (DFG, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) announces the results of the study “Analysis of India’s S&T Research Capabilities and International Collaborative Strength, particularly in context of Indo-German Collaboration, 2004-09”.

The main findings of the report, compiled by Dr. B.M. Gupta (National Institute of Science, Technology & Development Studies – NISTADS) on the basis of 2004-2009 figures available in the SCOPUS database, give us an overall picture of 13 comparator countries and confirm that Germany after the USA is the most productive partner in collaborative research with India in S&T research as reflected in the co-authored papers.

The report shows that 12.9% of all Indian publications in international collaboration have been shared with authors from Germany. Indo-German overall scientific collaboration during 2004-2009 has grown at a remarkable annual average growth rate of 6.8% and also shows trends of continued high rate of growth.
